On a school trip to the science museum, Chika, Ruby and Baffor head for the sensory Pattern Pod, not for themselves, but because it's where Yao needs to be. That's where they find the glowing sphere. That's where everything changes.
The next day, each of them discovers a superpower, speed, teleportation, mind-reading empathy, mega-memory. But there's a catch they have to work out for themselves: the powers only show up when they help someone else.
Then a shy new classmate, Ethan, arrives, and the Bold Kids have to decide whether the kindness they show each other extends to someone outside the group.
Try this with your reader:
What's your superpower?
Which character helped a friend, and how?
Where would you explore at a museum?

Bold Kids started with our own son's autism diagnosis. We went looking for stories where a child like him was the hero, not the problem to be solved, and kept coming up short. So we wrote one.
